Still from Ghostbusters (1984)

By Dominick Ferrara V, Editor in Chief

The reboot of one of Hollywood’s most legendary franchises has found its star as 12-year-old Mckenna Grace (Captain Marvel) will lead Sony’s latest Ghostbusters film.

Grace joins a cast that also includes Emmy-nominated actress Carrie Coon (The Leftovers, Gone Girl) and Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things, It).

Academy Award nominee Jason Reitman, son of Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II director Ivan Reitman, is directing the film. He also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Gil Kenan.

The story is set to center on four teenagers as they take on spirits.

The film will serve as a sequel to the first two films in the franchise, with Paul Feig’s 2016 Ghostbusters not considered canon.

Production begins this summer and Sony has dated the film for a July 10, 2020 release.

Angelina Jolie in Talks for THE ETERNALS

Comic still from The Eternals

By Dominick Ferrara V, Editor in Chief

One of Hollywood’s biggest names is set to make her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut, as Angelina Jolie is set to join the cast of The Eternals.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Academy Award winner has chosen to make the Chloé Zhao-helmed blockbuster her next project.

The film is based on a series of comic books, created by Jack Kirby, about near-immortal superpowered beings known as Eternals and their foes, known as the Deviants, who were created by godlike cosmic beings known as Celestials.

Marvel Studios has already introduced Celestials into their cinematic universe, as the beings have played a crucial role in the studio’s popular Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.

THR also reports that the story will involve “the love story between Ikaris, a man fueled by cosmic energy, and Sersi, who relishes moving amongst humans.”

It is currently unknown which character Jolie will play.

Zhao (The Rider) is directing a screenplay written by Matthew and Ryan Firpo.

Jolie is no stranger to working with Disney and their affiliated studios, such as Marvel, as she can next be seen in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil on October 18.

The Eternals currently has no release date, speculation says that the film will take one of two 2020 release dates currently held by Marvel Studios for “untitled” films: May 1, 2020 and November 6, 2020. My money is on the November 6 date, with Black Widow taking the May 1 date. The next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including The Eternals‘ release date, is expected to be announced at the studio’s Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con in July.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Golden Globe-nominated actor Cillian Murphy (Batman BeginsPeaky Blinders) has joined the cast of Paramount’s highly anticipated A Quiet Place 2.

The film will also star Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmons and Noah Jupe, reprising their roles from the successful 2018 original, which grossed more than $340 million worldwide on a minuscule $17 million budget. John Krasinski is returning to the director’s chair and is also writing the script.

Plot details for the film are being kept under wraps, but Murphy is expected to play a man with mysterious intentions who will join Blunt, Simmons and Jupe in their quest to fight noise-sensitive creatures.

Krasinski and the cast are preparing to shoot the film this summer.

A Quiet Place 2 is set to hit theaters on May 15, 2020, competing against an untitled comedy from Will Packer and Universal and an animated Scooby-Doo film from Warner Bros.
