Eddie Redmayne Eyed To Lead FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM

By Dominick Ferrara V

Fresh off his Academy Award victory for THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING, we have all wanted to know what Eddie Redmayne’s next move was going to be. Despite all of our guesses, nobody could have imagined this.

According to Variety, Redmayne is the frontrunner to land the lead role in the upcoming FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM, a spinoff of the blockbuster Harry Potter franchise. JK Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter book series, is writing the screenplay. David Yates, who directed the final four films in the series, is on board to direct.

Yates is testing other actors for the lead role of Newt Scamander, a “magiczoologist,” which in the “Harry Potter” realm is described as a person who studies magical creatures. However, the role is supposedly Redmayne’s to lose.

Apparently, there are four other leads to cast, 2 American girls and 2 American boys that Warner Bros is looking to cast.

Set in New York roughly seven decades before Harry Potter’s saga starts, “Fantastic Beasts” is based on the Hogwarts textbook of the same name and follows the adventures of its author, Newt Scamander.

Variety also reports that WB is looking at Nicholas Hoult for the role after working with the X-MEN actor in MAD MAX: FURY ROAD.

Redmayne is repped by CAA and United Agents.
