Disney Announces INDIANA JONES 5

By Dominick Ferrara V

In a move that has been rumored since Disney recently acquired the rights to the franchise, the studio has announced that a fifth film in the iconic “Imdiana Jones” franchise will hit theaters in 2019.

Steven Spielberg, the legendary director of the franchise’s first four films, will return to direct, while Harrison Ford will reprise his iconic role. Ford will be 77 when the film hits theaters.

The untitled project currently has no screenwriter attached.

George Lucas, who produced the first four “Indiana Jones” films, is not attached to the project. This may be due to his insistence on putting aliens in “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” turning down a script by “The Shawshank Redemption” writer/director Frank Darabont, which both Spielberg and Ford wanted to make.

Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall will return to produce the film. They both were producers of earlier “Indiana Jones” films.

The franchise’s last installment, “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” was financially successful, but has been panned by fans ever since its 2008 release.

The highly anticipated film will hit theaters on July 19, 2019.
